Introduction

The Innovative
Topic Training for Policy Actors organized by NerdzFactory commenced
with Day 1 focused on “Data Analysis for
Policymaking.”

The training aimed to equip policy actors with practical skills and tools for
evidence-based decision-making, promoting data-driven governance and impactful
policy formulation.

Training

The objectives of Day
1 were to: 

• Build participants’ understanding of the
  importance of data in policy formulation and implementation.
• Introduce participants to tools and
  techniques for data analysis and visualization.
• Develop participants’ ability to interpret
  data and derive actionable policy insights.
• Strengthen communication of policy
  evidence and findings to decision-makers and the public.

Sessions

Session 1:
Understanding Data for Policy Decisions

The facilitator introduced the role of data in policymaking, emphasizing its
importance in diagnosing problems, setting priorities, and tracking policy
outcomes. Discussions focused on data sources, data quality, and ethical
considerations in data use.

Session 2: Tools
and Techniques for Data Analysis

Participants explored practical tools such as Microsoft Excel, Google
Sheets, and Power BI for basic data analysis,
visualization, and interpretation. The hands-on demonstrations illustrated how
data can reveal trends and inform strategic planning.
