We were honored to host Madam Ngozi Iyoho Edith, research staff of the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER), who visited Youth Emancipation and Rehabilitation Foundation to engage us in meaningful discussions and recorded interview sessions on youth-related issues. The conversation centered on the realities facing young people, particularly those involved in MSMEs and the informal sector, and how the Youth Emancipation and Rehabilitation Foundation (YERFng) is working to provide solutions.
During the dialogue, the Executive Director of Youth Emancipation and Rehabilitation Foundation emphasized the challenges that continue to hold many young people back. She noted that youth are often demotivated and in need of mentoring, reorientation, and need access to capital to effectively drive their business ideas.
We also highlighted some of our initiatives and contributions, including:
• Catch Them Young school outreaches, where we engage students early on leadership, entrepreneurship, and values.
• Our involvement in the USAID-funded youth policy drafting initiative, which provided young voices with a platform in shaping policy direction.
• Partnerships with agencies like NDDC and local entrepreneurs on skill acquisition programs, equipping youth with practical skills for self-reliance.
The meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm our shared commitment with NISER towards empowering young people, supporting their enterprises, and creating an enabling environment for them to thrive. We look forward to future collaborations that will drive sustainable impact for youth in Nigeria.
